The Honourable Sir Gerald Edward Barling retires from the High Court (Chancery) with effect from 19 September 2019.

Sir Gerald Barling (70) was called to the Bar (M) in 1972 (NI Bar 1992), took Silk in 1991 (NI 1992) and elected a Bencher in 2001. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1990, a Recorder in 1993, Acting Deemster in the Isle of Man Court of Appeal in 2000, a Deputy High Court Judge and then Judge of the High Court (Chancery) in 2007. He was appointed President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal in 2007 and Business and Property Courts Supervising Judge for the North and North East Circuits and Vice Chancellor of the County Palatine of Lancaster in 2017
