High Court: Retirement of The Honourable Sir Stephen Paul Stewart

The Honourable Sir Stephen Paul Stewart retires as a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) with effect from 6 November 2021.

Background information 

Sir Stephen Stewart (68) was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1975, took Silk in 1996 and was elected a Bencher in 2013. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1995, a Recorder in 1999, Deputy Judge of the Technology and Construction Court in 2000 and a Senior Circuit Judge in 2003. He was appointed the Designated Civil Judge in 2003 (for Liverpool from 2003 to 2011 and for Greater Manchester from 2011 to 2013). He was appointed a High Court Judge (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2013, was the Queen’s Bench Administrative Court Judge for North and North East Circuits from 2014 to 2016 and appointed the Judge in Charge of the Queen’s Bench Civil List in 2019.
