Circuit Bench Retirement: Burn
His Honour Judge Colin Richard Burn retires as a Circuit Judge with effect from 12 May 2026.
Background information
His Honour Judge Burn was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1985. He was appointed an Assistant Judge Advocate General in 2001, a Recorder in 2003 and a Circuit Judge in 2010. He was appointed a Senior Judge of the Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia on the Island of Cyprus from 2012 to 2023. He was President of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal from 2016 to 2023 and was appointed Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Conscientious Objectors in 2024.
