District Judge Stephen Edward Rogers retires from the District Bench with effect from 1 April 2022. 

Background information 

District Judge Rogers (67) was admitted as a Solicitor in 1979. He was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 1990, a District Judge in 1996 and a Recorder in 2002.  He was a Course Director (Deputy District Judge Induction) with the Judicial College (formerly Judicial Studies Board) from 2004 to 2008 and a Course Director (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) from 2009. He was appointed a Nominated Judge of the Court of Protection and a Member of the Court of Protection Rules Committee in 2007. He was appointed a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber) (formerly the Mental Health Review Tribunal)) Restricted Patients Panel in 2012 and to the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service in 2014.
