District Judge – Death in Service
The Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, and the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lammy MP, were saddened to learn of the death of District Judge Martin Bland on 16 December 2025.
Background information
Judge Bland was admitted as a Solicitor in 1989. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 1999 and a District Judge in 2009. He was a Diversity and Community Relations Judge from 2011 to 2025 and a Family Course Tutor at the Judicial College from 2021 to 2024.
