District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Angus Warnock Hamilton retires with effect from 31 August 2024.

Background information

District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Hamilton was admitted as a Solicitor in 1983. He was appointed as an Acting Provincial Stipendiary Magistrate (now known as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 1998, a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2005 and a Member of the Gambling Appeals Tribunal in 2007. He was a Member of the Equal Treatment Advisory Committee of the Judicial Studies Board (now the Judicial College) from 2008 to 2011. He was appointed a Member of the Information Rights Tribunal in 2010 and was a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Course Tutor at the Judicial College from 2013 to 2022. He was appointed a Member of the Professional Regulation Tribunal and a Member of the Pensions Tribunal in 2016. He was appointed a Judge of the Mental Health Tribunal and an Appropriate Extradition Judge in 2020.
