High Court: Retirement of The Honourable Dame Beverley Ann Macnaughton Lang DBE
The Honourable Dame Beverley Ann Macnaughton Lang DBE retires from the High Court (King’s Bench Division) with effect from 1 May 2026.
The Lady Chief Justice thanks Dame Beverley Lang DBE for her significant contribution to the administration of justice, having served over 30 years as a judge. At the point of her retirement, she was the judge with the longest service in the King’s Bench Division of the High Court. The Lady Chief Justice thanks her for her distinguished service and wishes her the best for her retirement.
Background information
Dame Beverley Lang DBE was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1978, took Silk in 2000 and elected as a Bencher in 2006. She was appointed a part-time Chairman of the Employment Tribunals in 1995 and a part-time Chairman of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal in 2004. She was appointed a Recorder in 2007 and a Judge of the High Court (King’s Bench Division) in 2011. In March 2012 she was appointed to the Order of the British Empire as a Dame Commander (DBE).
