High Court: Retirement of The Honourable Sir Michael Alexander Soole
The Honourable Sir Michael Alexander Soole retires from the High Court (King’s Bench Division) with effect from 1 October 2026.
Recognising the contribution that Sir Michael has made over his judicial career including over 10 years as a High Court Judge, the Lady Chief Justice thanks him for his distinguished service and wishes him the best for his retirement.
Background information
Sir Michael Soole was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1977, took silk in 2002 and was elected a Bencher in 2008. He was appointed a Recorder in 2000 and a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division, now King’s Bench Division) in 2015. He served as an Election Rota Judge from 2020 to 2021 and as the Judge in Charge of the King’s Bench Division Civil List from 2022 to 2024.
