The Honourable Sir Nicholas Francis retires as a Judge of the High Court (Family Division) with effect from 1 May 2024.

Background information

Sir Nicholas Francis was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1981, took Silk in 2002 and was elected a Bencher in 2016. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1998, a Recorder in 1999; and authorised to sit as a High Court Judge in 2011. He was appointed a High Court Judge (Family Division) in 2016. He was the Family Presiding Judge (formerly known as Family Division Liaison Judge) for Wales from 2017 until 2023 and the Family Presiding Judge for London from 2023 until 2024.
