The Honourable Sir Nigel Sweeney retires as a Judge of the High Court (King’s Bench) with effect from 18 March 2023.
Background information
Sir Nigel Sweeney was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1976, was elected a Bencher in 1997 and took Silk in 2000. He was appointed a Recorder in 1997 and a High Court Judge of the King’s (formerly Queen’s) Bench in 2008. He was the Presiding Judge of the South East Circuit from 2012 to 2015 and a Member of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal from 2016 to 2019.
