Upper Tribunal Judge John Geoffrey Freeman retires with effect from 1 June 2019.

Upper Tribunal Judge Freeman (67) was called to the Bar (G) in 1975. He was appointed a Principal Magistrate for Solomon Islands in 1983, a Commissioner of the High Court in 1984, and acting Director of Public Prosecutions in 1985. He was appointed a part-time Immigration Adjudicator in 1989, a full-time Immigration Adjudicator in 1992, a Legal Member of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission in 2001 and a Recorder in 2003. He was appointed Vice-President, Immigration Appeal Tribunal in 2000 and a Senior Immigration Judge in 2005 (now known as a Judge of the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber).
