Judge Frank Appleyard retires with effect from 31 March 2022.
Background information
Judge Appleyard (65) was admitted as a Solicitor in 1983. He was appointed a Legal Chairman of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (now known as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber) in 1996. He was appointed an Acting Provincial Stipendiary Magistrate in 1998, a Deputy District Judge (Magistrate’s Court) in 2000, a Special Immigration Adjudicator in 2003 and an Immigration Judge in 2005. He was appointed a Designated Immigration Judge (now known as a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) and Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge (Immigration and Asylum Chamber)) in 2006. He was appointed a Resident Immigration Judge in 2017.
