Resident Judge Julian Francis Walsingham Phillips retires with effect from 1 August 2025.
Background information
Resident Judge Phillips was admitted as a Solicitor in 1980. He was appointed a part-time Immigration Adjudicator in 1999, a full-time Immigration Adjudicator in 2002 and an Immigration Judge of the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in 2005. He was appointed a Designated Immigration Judge (now known as a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) and Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge (Immigration and Asylum Chamber)) in 2009. He was a Tribunal Committee Member at the Judicial College from 2014 to 2025 and appointed a Resident Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in 2016.
