His Honour Judge Graham Nash Wood KC retires as a Senior Circuit Judge with effect from 1 August 2026.

Background information

His Honour Judge Wood KC was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1979, took Silk in 2002 and was elected as a Bencher in 2010. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1996, a Recorder in 2000, a President of the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Restricted Patients Panel) in 2006 and a Judge of the First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health) from 2008 to 2019. He was authorised to sit as a High Court Judge in 2010 pursuant to the Senior Courts Act 1991. He was appointed a Circuit Judge in 2011 and was a Civil Course Tutor at the Judicial College from 2013 to 2020. He was appointed a Senior Circuit Judge in 2014 and served as the Designated Civil Judge at Cheshire and Merseyside from 2014 to 2026. He was appointed Chancellor for the Diocese of Liverpool in 2018 and was a Civil Course Director at the Judicial College from 2020 to 2024.
