A new edition of The Chancery Guide was published in July 2022. This is available online (PDF) and, subject to any applicable local guidance, it applies in the regional Business and Property Courts as it does in the Rolls Building in London. The Chancery Guide was accompanied by a Practice Note (PDF) of the Chancellor dated July 2022. This indicates that all previously published guidance for the Chancery Division is superseded by the terms of The Chancery Guide, save only for those Practice Notes and the guidance identified in its schedule.
The applicable local guidance in the Business and Property Courts in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle is the following:
- Practice Note of the Vice-Chancellor dated 26 May 2022 entitled Practice Note: Business and Property Courts in Manchester and Leeds (in person hearing of Friday applications). This currently applies in Leeds and Manchester only.
- Practice Note of the Vice-Chancellor dated July 2022 entitled Practice Note: Business and Property Courts in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle (PDF) which sets out specific local guidance and modifies The Chancery Guide in limited respects in its application in the Business and Property Courts in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle.
- Guidance date March 2023 on the Grant of Rights of Audience by the Business and Property Courts in Leeds to solicitors who do not have higher rights of audience.
