Civil training overview

There are separate induction courses for Recorders who sit on the circuit bench, and Deputy District Judges who sit on the district bench, within the County Court. Both are residential courses and consist of small group work and lectures.

A programme of continuing education is provided for all judges exercising a Civil jurisdiction through the civil law seminars. They contain a range of modules to choose from that reflect the differing needs of the circuit and district benches, and also the breadth of the Civil jurisdiction. Judges select modules that best suit their need and development.

The civil law seminars provide module options that give High Court Judges, who sit in the Civil jurisdiction, an opportunity to attend. For more details see the Courts Judiciary Prospectus.
