Appointment as Chamber President of the First-tier Tribunal, General Regulatory Chamber: O’Connor

Judge Mark O’Connor has been appointed as Chamber President of the First-tier Tribunal, General Regulatory Chamber, by the Senior President of Tribunals, the Right Honourable Sir Keith Lindblom with effect from 27 April 2022.

Mark O’Connor, aged 50, will be known as Judge O’Connor. He was called to the Bar (I) in 1994. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in 2006. He was appointed Deputy Judge of the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in 2010, Judge of the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in October 2012, Deputy Principal Resident Judge of the Upper Tribunal Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2015, Special Immigration Appeals Commissioner in December 2015 and Principal Resident Judge in 2018. He has been authorised to sit as a High Court Judge under section 9(1) of the Senior Courts Act 1981 since 2019. He has been Acting President of the First-tier Tribunal (General Regulatory Chamber) since August 2020.
