Appointment of Deputy Head of Criminal Justice

The Right Honourable Dame Victoria Sharp DBE, President of the Queen’s Bench Division, has been appointed as Deputy Head of Criminal Justice with immediate effect.

 

Her appointment was made by the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon, after consultation with the Lord Chancellor.

The Right Honourable Dame Victoria Sharp DBE was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1979 and took Silk in 2001. She was appointed a Recorder in 1998 and a High Court Judge (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2009. She was a Presiding Judge on the Western Circuit from 2012 to 2013 before being elevated to the Court of Appeal in October 2013. Dame Victoria was appointed Vice President of the Queen’s Bench Division and a member of the Judicial Executive Board in 2016. She was appointed President of the Queen’s Bench Division in June 2019.
