Appointment of Family Division Liaison Judges

The President of the Family Division, following consultation with the Lord Chancellor, has announced the appointment of three Family Division Liaison Judges:

Mr Justice Williams has been appointed as the Family Division Liaison Judge for the South Eastern Circuit (Kent, Surrey, Sussex & Thames Valley) with effect from 30 September 2020 where he will succeed Mr Justice Moor.

Mr Justice Keehan has been appointed as the Family Division Liaison Judge for the South Eastern Circuit (London) with effect from 2 November 2020 where he will succeed Mrs Justice Theis.

Mrs Justice Knowles has been appointed as the Family Division Liaison Judge for the Midland Circuit with effect from 2 November 2020 where she will succeed Mr Justice Keehan.

The Hon Mr Justice Williams was called to the Bar, Inner Temple, in 1990, and took Silk in 2013. He was appointed a Recorder in 2016 and High Court Judge, of the Family Division, in 2017.

The Hon Mr Justice Keehan was called to the Bar, Middle Temple, in 1982, and took Silk in 2001. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1999, a Recorder in 2000 and a High Court Judge, of the Family Division, in 2013. He was appointed Family Division Liaison Judge for the Midland Circuit in October 2014.

The Hon Mrs Justice Knowles was called to the Bar, Grays Inn, in 1993, and took Silk in 2011. She was appointed a fee-paid Judge of the Mental Health Tribunal in 2007, as a salaried Judge of the Upper Tribunal, Administrative Appeals Chamber in 2014, and a High Court Judge, of the Family Division, in 2017.
