Assistant Judge Advocate General Appointment: Smith

The Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Robert Buckland QC MP, has appointed Andrew Desmond Smith MBE TD to be an Assistant Judge Advocate General, with effect from 6 September 2021.

Background Information

Andrew Desmond Smith MBE TD, aged 58, will be known as Judge Advocate Smith MBE TD. He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 2007. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2006 and as a Recorder in 2020.
