Circuit Judge Appointment: Bennett
The King has appointed Richard Anthony Bennett to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The former Lord Chief Justice deployed him to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Teesside Combined Court (Crown) with effect from 29 January 2024.
Richard Anthony Bennett will be known as His Honour Judge Richard Bennett. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1996. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2019 and as a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2023.
