Circuit Judge Appointment: Payne

The Queen has appointed Geoffrey Donald Stephen Payne to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Robert Buckland QC MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Aylesbury Crown Court with effect from 20 September 2021.

Background Information

Geoffrey Donald Stephen Payne, aged 45, will be known as His Honour Judge Payne. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 2000. He was appointed as a Legally Qualified Chair of Police Conduct Panels in 2016, as a Legally Qualified Chair of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal in 2017 and as a Recorder in 2018.
