District Judge Appointment: Birk

The Queen has appointed Dewinder Kaur Birk to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Robert Buckland QC MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the Midland Circuit, based at Leicester County Court with effect from 23 November 2020.

Background Information

Dewinder Kaur Birk, will be known as District Judge Birk. She was called to the Bar (L) in 1988. She was appointed as a fee-paid Adjudicator in 2002, and as a fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2005. She was also appointed as a fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber in 2018.
