The Queen has appointed Gillian Claire Johnston to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the Northern Circuit, based at Blackburn County Court with effect from 4 April 2022.

Background Information

Gillian Claire Johnston, aged 52, will be known as District Judge Johnston. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1996. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in 2006 and was assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber in 2011.
