The Queen has appointed Talwinder Kaur Buttar to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

 The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Luton Magistrates’ Court with effect from 3 November 2021.

Background Information

Talwinder Kaur Buttar, aged 43, will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) Buttar. She was admitted to the Roll in 2008. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2019 and as a Deputy District Judge in 2019.
