The Queen is pleased to approve the appointment of a Justice of the High Court. This appointment will take effect from 8 February 2021.

The candidate approved as a High Court Judge is Edward James Wilson Mellor QC.

This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements. James Mellor QC

James Mellor QC, aged 59, will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Mellor. He was Called to the Bar (M) in 1986 and took Silk in 2006. He was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge 2020, as an Appointed Person, Trademark Tribunals in 2015 and as an Appointed Person Design Tribunals in 2015.

He will take up appointment on 8 February 2021 consequential to retirements in the High Court.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Edward James Wilson Mellor QC to the Chancery Division.
