High Court Appointment – Sweeting QC

The Queen is pleased to approve the appointment of a Justice of the High Court. This appointment will take effect from 11 January 2022.

The candidate approved as a High Court Judge is Derek Sweeting QC.

This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements. Derek Sweeting QC

Derek Sweeting QC, aged 61 will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Sweeting. He was Called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1983 and took Silk in 2001.  

He will take up appointment on 11 January 2022.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Derek Sweeting QC to the Queen’s Bench Division.
