The Queen is pleased to approve the appointment of a Justice of the High Court. This appointment will take effect from 7 September 2020.  It is anticipated that a further sixteen appointments will be announced in the coming months.

The candidate approved as a High Court Judge is Richard Meade QC.

This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.

Richard Meade QC

Richard Meade QC, aged 53 will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Meade. He was Called to the Bar (L) in 1991 and took Silk in 2008. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2009 and authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge sitting in the Chancery Division in 2011.

He will take up appointment on 7 September 2020 consequential to the elevation of Lady Justice Rose.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Richard Meade QC to the Chancery Division.
