Appointment of a High Court Judge: Coppel
The Lady Chief Justice is delighted to welcome the appointment by his Majesty the King of Jason Coppel KC to the High Court.
Mr Justice Coppel will be assigned to the King’s Bench Division where he will bring over 30 years of experience as a barrister, and six years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge, to the role.
This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.
Background
Jason Coppel KC will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Coppel. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1994 and took Silk in 2013. He was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2018.
He will take up appointment on 12 January 2026.
