Appointment of a High Court Judge: Ewins KC
The Lady Chief Justice is delighted to welcome the appointment by His Majesty the King of James Ewins KC to the High Court.
Mr Justice Ewins will be assigned to the Family Division where he will bring over 30 years of experience as a barrister, and over three years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge to the role.
This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.
Background
James Ewins KC will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Ewins. He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1996 and took Silk in 2016. He was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2023.
He will take up appointment on 19 October 2026.
