Appointment of a High Court Judge: Lickley KC
The Lady Chief Justice is delighted to welcome the appointment by His Majesty the King of Nigel Lickley KC to the High Court.
Mr Justice Lickley will be assigned to the King’s Bench Division where he will bring over 43 years of experience as a barrister, and 28 years of judicial experience as a Recorder, Deputy High Court Judge and Circuit Judge, to the role.
This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.
Background
Nigel Lickley KC will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Lickley. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1983 and took Silk in 2006. He was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1998 and a Recorder in 2000. He was also appointed as a s.9(4) Deputy High Court Judge and Circuit Judge at the Central Criminal Court in 2018.
He will take up appointment on 1 October 2026.
