Appointment of a High Court Judge: Obi

The Lady Chief Justice is delighted to welcome the appointment by his Majesty the King of Margaret Obi to the High Court.
Ms Justice Obi will be assigned to the King’s Bench Division where she will bring over 27 years of experience as a solicitor, and seven years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge, a Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge, and a Chair of the Competition Appeals Tribunal, to the role.
This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.
Background
Margaret Obi will be known as The Honourable Ms Justice Obi. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1998. She was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2018. In 2024 she was appointed as a Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge and a Chair of the Competition Appeals Tribunal.
She will take up appointment on 3 October 2025.
