Appointment of a High Court Judge: Trowell KC
The Lady Chief Justice is delighted to welcome the appointment by his Majesty the King of Stephen Trowell KC to the High Court.
Mr Justice Trowell will be assigned to the Family Division, where he will bring nearly 30 years of experience as a barrister specialising in family law, and three years of judicial experience as a Deputy High Court Judge, to the role.
This appointment will fill a vacancy in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements.
Background
Stephen Trowell KC will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Trowell. He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1995 and took Silk in 2015. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2016 and as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2021.
He will take up appointment on 2 October 2024.
