Appointment of a new Senior Coroner and four new Area Coroners

The Chief Coroner, His Honour Judge Thomas Teague QC, has welcomed the appointment of a new Senior Coroner and four new Area Coroners in England and Wales. They are:

  • Cornwall Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Andrew Cox as the senior coroner for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly coroner area. His appointment was made following an open competition and after receiving the consent of the Chief Coroner and Lord Chancellor.
  • Devon County Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Alison Longhorn as area coroner for the Exeter and Greater Devon coroner area. Her appointment was made following an open competition and after receiving the consent of the Chief Coroner and Lord Chancellor.
  • Lancashire County Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Christopher Long as area coroner for the Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen coroner area. His appointment was made following an open competition and after receiving the consent of the Chief Coroner and Lord Chancellor.
  • Dorset Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Brendan Joseph Allen as area coroner for the Dorset coroner area. His appointment was made following an open competition and after receiving the consent of the Chief Coroner and Lord Chancellor.
  • Hull City Council, as the relevant authority, have appointed Lorraine Harris as area coroner for the East Riding of Yorkshire and Kingston-upon-Hull coroner area. Her appointment was made following an open competition and after receiving the consent of the Chief Coroner and Lord Chancellor.
