Appointment of High Court Judges: Eyre QC & Williams QC
The Queen is pleased to approve the appointments of two Justices of the High Court. These appointments will take effect from 1 October 2021. It is anticipated that further appointments will be announced in the coming months.
The candidates approved as High Court Judges are His Honour Judge Stephen Eyre QC and Heather Williams QC.
These appointments will fill vacancies in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements. Stephen Eyre QC
His Honour Judge Stephen Eyre QC, aged 63 will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Eyre. He was Called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1981 and took Silk in 2015. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2005, as a Circuit Judge in 2015 and as a Specialist Civil Circuit Judge sitting in Business and Property Courts in 2017.
He will take up appointment on 1 October 2021.
The Lord Chief Justice will assign His Honour Judge Stephen Eyre QC to the Queen’s Bench Division.
Heather Williams QC
Heather Williams QC, aged 58 will be known as The Honourable Mrs Justice Heather Williams. She was Called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1985 and took Silk in 2006. She was appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge sitting in the Queen’s Bench Division in 2018.
She will take up appointment on 1 October 2021.
The Lord Chief Justice will assign Heather Williams QC to the Queen’s Bench Division.
