Appointment of Jonathan Heath as the senior coroner for the North Yorkshire (Eastern), North Yorkshire (Western) and the City of York coroner areas
North Yorkshire county council and York city council, as the relevant authorities, have appointed Jonathan Heath as the senior coroner for the North Yorkshire (Western), North Yorkshire (Eastern) and the City of York coroner areas.
His appointment was made following an open competition and after receiving the consent of the Chief Coroner and Lord Chancellor. Jonathan will take up his new post today, 9 September 2020.
The appointment to three coroner areas is made on the basis that these areas are likely to be merged in due course (subject to a public consultation, the will of parliament and the formal agreement of the respective local authorities).
