Appointment of the Vice-President of the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division)

Lord Justice Fulford will be appointed as Vice-President of the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) in October 2019, in succession to Lady Justice Hallett DBE.

His appointment was made by the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon, after consultation with the Lord Chancellor.

 Biography

The Rt Hon Lord Justice Adrian Fulford was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1978 and took silk in 1994. He became a Bencher in 2002. He was appointed a Recorder in 1997 and a High Court Judge in 2002. From 2003 to 2012 he was one of the first 18 judges of the International Criminal Court and from 2008 to 2012 was President of the Trial Division. From 2010 to 2013 he was a Presiding Judge of the South-Eastern Circuit. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 2013 and was Deputy Senior Presiding Judge in 2015, Senior Presiding Judge from 2016 to 2017 and Judge in Charge of Reform and Technology from 2014 to 2017. In 2017 he was appointed as the first Investigatory Powers Commissioner.
