Circuit Judge Appointment: Birk
The King has appointed Dewinder Kaur Birk to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed her to the Midlands Circuit, based at Leicester County and Family Court, with effect from 28 October 2024
Background Information
Dewinder Kaur Birk will be known as Her Honour Judge Birk. She was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1988. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, in 2002. She was also appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber in 2018. She was appointed as a District Judge in 2020.
