Circuit Judge Appointment: Hanbury
The King has appointed William Hanbury to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The former Lord Chief Justice deployed him to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Newcastle Civil & Family Courts and Tribunals Centre with effect from 05 February 2024.
Background Information
William Hanbury will be known as His Honour Judge Hanbury. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1985. He was appointed as an Adjudicator in 2000, as a Fee-paid Tribunal Judge (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in 2005, and as a Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in 2010.
