Circuit Judge Appointment: Moran

The King has appointed Thomas Moran to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lammy MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.

The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Newcastle Combined Court Centre, with effect from 24 November 2025.

Background Information
Thomas Moran will be known as His Honour Judge Moran. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1996. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2012, and as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Health, Education and Social Care Chamber, in 2013. He was also appointed as a Recorder in 2018.
