Circuit Judge Appointment: Smith

The Queen has appointed Christopher James Smith to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Teesside Combined Court Centre with effect from 18 October 2021.

Background Information

Christopher James Smith, aged 47, will be known as His Honour Judge Christopher Smith. He was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1997. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2016.
