Circuit Judge Appointment: Sweeney

The Queen has appointed Christian Noel Sweeney to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of The Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Robert Buckland MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Reading County Court with effect from 7 October 2019.

Christian Noel Sweeney, aged 54 will be known as His Honour Judge Sweeney. He was called to the Bar (G) in 1992. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2012, as a Fee-paid Employment Judge of the Employment Tribunals (England and Wales) in 2013, as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber in 2011, as a Deputy District Judge in 2015 and as a District Judge in 2016.
