District Judge Appointment: Furness

The King has appointed Peter Furness to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon. 

The former Lord Chief Justice deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Canterbury County Court, with effect from 19 February 2024.

Background Information

Peter Furness will be known as District Judge Furness. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1989. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2019. In 2021 he was appointed as a Fee-paid Employment Judge and Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Health, Education and Social Care Chamber.
