District Judge Appointment: Lal
The King has appointed Sanjay Lal to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The former Lord Chief Justice deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Medway County Court with effect from 8 January 2024.
Sanjay Lal will be known as District Judge Lal. He was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1993. He was appointed as a Road User Charging Adjudicator in 2009 and as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, in 2016. In 2019, he was appointed as a Deputy District Judge.
