District Judge Appointment: Mortimer
The King has appointed Sophie Mortimer to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lammy MP and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed her to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Hertford County Court, with effect from 1 April 2026.
Sophie Mortimer will be known as District Judge Mortimer. She was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1996. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2020 and an Assistant Coroner in 2025.
