District Judge Appointment: Woodcock

The King has appointed James Woodcock to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lammy MP and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill. 

The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the Northern Circuit, based at Liverpool Civil and Family Court, with effect from 20 July 2026.

Background Information

James Woodcock will be known as District Judge Woodcock. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 2011. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2016. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2022 and as a Fee Paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber, in 2025.
