District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Baffa
The King has appointed Gennaro Baffa to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Thames Magistrates’ Court with effect from 23 June 2025.
Background Information
Gennaro Baffa will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Baffa. He qualified as a CILEX Fellow in 1998. He was appointed as a Legally Qualified Chair of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in 2019 and as a Salaried Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, in 2024.
