The King has appointed Mary Dowrick to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.  

The Lady Chief Justice has deployed her to the Northern Circuit, based at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court with effect from 3 November 2025. 

Background Information 

Mary Dowrick will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Dowrick. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2007. She was appointed as a Chair of the Valuation Tribunal in 2017, a Deputy District Judge in 2019 and as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2022.
