District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Gareth Williams
The King has appointed Gareth Williams to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the Wales Circuit, based at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court with effect from 12 May 2025.

Gareth Williams will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Gareth Williams. He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 2004. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, and as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2019.
