District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Patel
The King has appointed Dharmesh Patel to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed him to the Midlands Circuit, based at Coventry Magistrates’ Court with effect from 28 April 2025.
Background Information
Dharmesh Patel will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Patel. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2006. He was appointed as a Chairman of the Valuation Tribunal for England in 2017. He was also appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to Health Education and Social Care and as a Recorder in 2019. In 2022, he was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts).
